I took a trip on the Norwegian Cruise Line Gem during a week there was no single supplement. The single supplement is a surcharge for single occupancy of a regular cabin.

There were 60 or so people traveling solo.  Each evening we gathered to hear about the day, see if there was interest in meeting up the next day to go ashore and who was interested in sharing a dinner table

The level of engagement was flexible and I got to see how other solos were experiencing the adventure.   It gave me a sense of family at least once a day while at sea. Traveling o a ship of 2,000 passengers,it gifted me a sense of belonging.

What gives you the sense of family when you travel on your own?
