Want to do something different? How about heading to a Korean style spa? It’s got a unique design for rest and relaxation.

In College Point New York, Spa Castle is a 100,000 square foot facility that has specialized saunas, all-weather out door pools with jets, traditional spa services, food and drink.

Wearing outfits they provide, you experience the different kinds of saunas and hot room, relax, have a beverage or meal, enjoy the roof top jacuzzis and have a spa treatment or two.

Didn’t do a lot of research ahead of time, but based on what I read, I wasn’t surprised at the extent of nudity in the female locker room area. Or that it is a barefoot facility. Bathing suits are not allowed in the indoor same sex soaking pools. Bring them to wear in the unisex pool areas.

No worries about storing your stuff. A locker for your shoes and a locker for you clothes and belongings are provided. Do bring a towel and a coverup or robe. The towel provided by Spa Castle is small sized.

There’s a nice sense of peacefulness midweek. I did cross path with friendly folks who helped orient a Spa Castle newbie.

It’s a refreshing and fun adventure worth experiencing at least once. I went midweek when it is less crowded and children are in school. Entry is $40 midweek for a day and $50 on the weekend. My Living Social voucher reduced the price to $20 for midweek.

The facility is open in the morning until late at night. I combined this visit with a meal adventure in Flushing Queen’s Chinatown.
