I love the visual sensation of visiting Williamsburg. The closest I can come to describing it is soaking in a hot tub followed by a plunge in a cold pool.

The first thing that greeted me was the abundance of street art. When I parked my car on N 9th Street near Bedford Ave and looked across the street there was an amazing mural on the side of a building that said “Fight for Street Art”. Not far from there was another that I called “Hot Lips” on the temporary wall of a construction site adjacent to pub that advertised free pizza from noon - 8 PM.

But then as time passed I gained perspective.  Art was everywhere - a shop window display,  a self-standing street sign, a photo shoot, the clothing people wore and the diverse mosaic of shops, restaurants and housing.

It felt vibrant, energetic, happy and a cozy kind of comfortable.

The video facility I visited in the industrial area consisted of huge open spaces. It was  filled with people who loved the quirkiness of the environment and became absorbed in it. The activity, sounds and movement in the space was live art

I find that some places are good for exploring a “layer” at a time. Williamsburg is one of them. What's next?  Viewing this neighborhood as a foodie would or capturing NYC views from various perspectives?

What approach would you take to travel experientially in Williamsburg?
