In the mood to do something new, I booked a floatation session in a sensory deprivation tank located in a NYC Spa. I’m a good floater but I wondered would floating in the dark for an hour be a pleasant rejuvenating or relaxing experience as reported?

When I arrived I was led to a beautiful private room with an open floor plan that contained a vanity dressing area, a shower and door to enter the float room. Instructions about using the provided ear plugs, suggested floating positions, water spray bottle in the event you get salt in your eyes and the turning off the lighting was explained

After showering, I stepped through the door into the roomy tub and began my warm float. After settling in, I turned off the lights, floated and tuned into the sensation which was easier than I expected. As time elapsed I imagined I was on a trip floating in the Dead Sea. Time passed quickly as I immersed into the experience.

When the hour was up, the lights gently turned on and I rinsed off the light coating of salt on my skin. Towels, toiletries and a hair dryer were provided and a 30 minute window so there is no need to rush. I left feeling light and happy and as I strolled down Fifth Avenue thing looked extra sparkly that night.

Would I repeat the experience? Absolutely!

When was the last time you dedicated a daycation to trying something new?
